Supply List

  • Cardstock (Don't use glossy paper; it's too slippery.)
  • Shaving cream
  • Food coloring
  • Paper towels

  • Baking sheet
  • Spatula

  1. Spray a thin coating of shaving cream onto the baking sheet as large as your piece of cardstock. Use the spatula to spread it out.
  2. Add a few drops of food coloring to the shaving cream. Use as many or as few different colors as you like.
  3. Use your spatula to spread the drops of food coloring around. Experiment with making designs and combining the colors. Below you'll see a picture of what our baking sheet looked like.
  4. Place your piece of cardstock face down in the shaving cream mixture. Press down gently so that the entire surface of the cardstock is in covered with shaving cream.
  5. Remove the cardstock from the shaving cream and place on a flat surface. Allow the cardstock to dry for 10 minutes. This will give the dye enough time to soak into the cardstock.
  6. Take a paper towel and wipe the shaving cream off the cardstock. It usually works best to wipe from one side of the paper to the other in one direction. Carefully remove all of the shaving cream in this manor.
  7. Allow the cardstock to dry completely and use in anyway. The designs can make great wall hangings, greeting cards, or frames for other artwork. Use your imagination!
