Supply List

  • Pinecones
  • Parrafin Wax
  • Fragrance (if desired)
  • Dye (if desired)
  • Wick

  • Double Boiler
  • Tongs
  • Waxed Paper

  • Thead the wick through the petals of your pinecone. Leave about 1 inch hanging out of the tip of the pinecone. You will use this to light the firestarter.
  • Melt your wax in a double boiler.
  • Stir in candle dye and fragrance.
  • Remove the wax from the heat.
  • Using your tongs, carefully dip the pinecone in the wax. You can experiment by dipping, just half, just one side, or the entire pinecone. Hold the pinecone over the boiler for a few seconds to allow the wax to dry. Dip the pinecone again. You may want to repeat this step a few times to get a good coat of wax on the pinecone.
  • Place your pinecone on the waxed paper to dry.
  • To use the firestarter, nestle it between some logs in your fireplace and light the wick.
