Surprise Coupons in your Red Plum Circular - 6/25

There were some surprise coupons in this week’s Red Plum circular. (Everyone should get one of these in the mail on Fridays.)  Along with the usual coupons for local Pizza places there was a coupon on the back cover for Buy One Febreeze Fabric Refresher, Get One Free.  I’m thinking that with a decent sale at one of the drug stores, we should be able to get some very cheap Febreeze within the next couple of weeks.

There was also a McDonalds coupon booklet which I wouldn’t usually be terribly interested in but they had four coupons for their specialty/coffee drinks which I’d like to try!  I like Starbucks Frozen Strawberry Lemonade and hopefully I'll be using the coupon for a FREE frozen strawberry lemonade at McDonalds this weekend.  Here’s the other McDonald Coupons:

9 Grocery Items That You Should Never Pay Full-Price

9 Grocery Items That You Should Never Pay Full-Price

There are some items that go on sale so frequently that you should really never buy them full-price.  It will take a little patience and practice, but this list will help you get an idea of grocery items that often have coupons and sales that can be combined for great prices.

  1. Dental Products - If you look back at my weekly shopping lists, you’ll find that there is never a week where you can’t get good sales on toothpaste or toothbrushes.   Most every week you can get toothpaste for less than a dollar or for free when you combine sales and coupons.
  2. Rice & Pasta Mixes – These make easy side dishes to many meals and at least once a month, you can get them for around $1 or less.
  3. Brand Name Cereal – There are sales and coupons every week on cereal.  The brands (General Mills, Kellogg’s, Post) that are on sale rotate, so stock up when your favorite brand goes on sale.
  4. Household Cleaning Products – There are constantly coupons in the Sunday paper for cleaning products.  You can get the newest products including green products as well as old favorites at a discount when you collect the coupons.
  5. Yogurt – At least one kind of yogurt is on sale every week.  I have been buying the small 4-packs of Activia for a $1 when it’s on sale with a coupon.  Just don’t fall into the trap of buying more than your family can eat before it expires.
  6. Deodorant – At least every other week, my favorite brand – Degree – goes on sale.  This week I snatched one up for $.99.
  7. Pain Reliever (Tylenol, Advil, etc.) – Once again coupons and sales are abundant on these products.   Monitor your stock and begin looking for sales a few weeks before you run out.
  8. Air-Fresheners – New air fresheners and devices come out constantly and that means there will be coupons to get you to try them.  That means if you want to try these products, no need to pay full-price.
  9. Condiments - Sauces, dressings, and spices can make or break the meal.  Don’t forget to stock up on ketchup, mustard, and bbq sauce during the summer picnic season when they go on sale.  Pasta sauces tend to go on sale more often during the fall and winter.

That is a perfect well though out list there.  I am always surprised at the coupons for things that are essentials (like toothpaste), as everyone needs this product, and its not like its a luxury.  I guess there must be one heck of a lot of competition out there for certain product lines.
